Renters Warehouse Houston and its CEO, Rich Drake, were named Finalists for the Best Community Impact and CEO of the Year awards at the 2017 Business Excellence Awards, which will be held at The Westin in Houston, TX on February 20, 2017.
Renters Warehouse Houston is the fastest growing office under the company name and most recently won Franchise of the Year at the company’s 2016 awards gala. After only three years in business, Renters Warehouse Houston experienced a 260% growth rate in 2016, ending the year with nearly 1200 units.
In Rich’s’ own words…
I started a real estate investment company and then later purchased a HomeVestors “We Buy Ugly Houses” franchise in 1997. My partners and I won just about every award in HomeVestors there was – Franchisee of the Year, Most Buys, Most Sales, and Lowest Marketing Time.
After 16 years of owning the HomeVestors business where we purchased over 1,500 houses and accumulating over 200 rental properties, my partners and I purchased a Renters Warehouse franchise. The decision was made that I would be CEO of Renters Warehouse and my partners would continue to run our HomeVestors franchise.
In the last three years, we have grown to be the largest franchise in the nation in terms of revenue, growth rate and number of units. We have surpassed offices that had been in business for several years longer than us.
I have a wonderful wife with great culinary skills that keeps me in the gym and healthy. I have two daughters that are out of college and involved in their own careers (ie. they are off my “payroll”), and one young son who graduates high school this year and is on the way to Texas A&M next year on a Navy ROTC scholarship to become a third-generation Naval Officer. I must also mention that we have two little dogs (sisters) and eleven chickens that provide eggs every day for breakfast. My wife and I hope upon retirement to buy a small piece of land in the Hill Country of Texas, become “vagabonds”, and travel the world one tropical island at a time.
